It's the big five-oh. Yep, I've officially been in the [mental] institute of IB for 50 whole days.
It sure feels a lot longer than that.
Needless to say, I'm extremely busy tonight (but when am I not nowadays), but I couldn't possibly let this important occasion pass by without sharing some thoughts.
In five statements of 50 words or less, please enjoy:
Grace's Super Non-scientific Observations for the Ongoing Experiment that is her High School Education and Indeterminate Future
1. This thing is stressful. Not complain-all-day, mild-migraine stressful, because that would be bearable. I'm talking nervous-twitch, dreams-about-class, yelling-textbook-extracts-at-strangers stressful.
2. This thing is time consuming. Think four hour naps and strategic head-resting in class.
3. This thing is demoralizing. Of the dropping-your-grade-average-by-ten-percent variety. Received my first <70% ever last week. On a test that I spent at least six hours studying for.
4. This thing is consuming my social life. I have turned down exactly 9 party invitations and 3 outings with friends since the start of the school year.
5. This thing had better be worth it. Okay, this isn't really an observation, but whatever. Because I've signed a deal with the devil, and will not be getting my soul (or free time) back for the next two years.
One last thing - sorry for the lack of pretty pictures in more recent blog posts. I simply do not have the time to find them any more.
On a brighter note, PA DAY THIS FRIDAY!!1!! <- I suppose that's how the stereotypical teenager would respond to a day off school. I, on the other hand will be frantically cramming for a French debate at the library with a friend.
Ciao.
