Snowed In!

Salutations, dear readers! ( I was feeling very Charlotte's Web-esque when I woke up this morning)

Can you believe it? I haven't posted in a whole two days! I hope you all had a nice Christmas. What kind of presents did you get? Oh, and for all the Asians out there, how much did you spend on Boxing day this year? ;)

-What did you do for Christmas?

Hmm? What's that? Could you speak up a little louder?

-What did you do for Christmas?

Yes, I am sad enough to resort to asking myself a question so I can blab on as if people actually wanted to listen, or read, in this case. Now that we're clear...

I'm very glad you asked! What did I do... ? Haha. Well, you're aware that I'm still in NYC, so I spent Christmas with my mom's extended family! The shocker is, this Christmas Eve was the first one I've ever spent not at church! We were considering going to the Korean church near my uncle's house, but we found out that they were undergoing construction after the roof fell down. So unfortunately, no Christmas Mass this year. D;

On the evening of the 24th,  my foot was in so much pain from the treatments that I had to do the unthinkable--take a Tylenol. What's so unthinkable about that? I absolutely abhor medication. I haven't taken any sort of cough medicine, let alone painkillers since I was 7 or 8. I have a theory about pharmaceuticals and over-the-counter drugs. It's very complicated, and involves the FBI and aliens. Maybe some other time. :)

http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/c/c8/Tylenol_bottle_closeup_crop.jpgAnyhow, 20 minutes after I took the Tylenol, an odd effect washed over me. I felt very woozy, and I didn't have any fine motor skills. I remember the feeling of rising from the bed, then I think I passed out. Too bad my parents think I just "fell asleep" because it was 11pm and I was "tired." Psh. Hopping Grasses do not get tired at 11pm. No way.

Come Christmas morning (like, 5 or 6 am), I awoke simultaneously to two things: my 5-year-old cousin shrieking to open his presents, and the smell of beef instant noodles. After being groggily dragged downstairs, my little cousin handed everybody their presents, while my grandpa ate his noodles in the background.
http://cache.gawker.com/topic/ihop.jpgWe then went to have breakfast at the iHop just down the street, which was surprisingly open. I enjoyed a scrumptious cheese omelette. All in all, it was a nice Christmas. Except for the little fact that there wasn't any snow.

In typical Asian fashion, my family went ballistic shopping on the 26th. There was a snowstorm warning, but we disregarded it, thinking that being Canadian, we could brave whatever winter weather there was. We headed to Woodbury Premium Outlets, and shopped 'till we dropped (Literally, because after a while, I couldn't walk anymore). At around noon, it began to lightly snow. At that point, we were all thinking Hah. Soft Americans. THIS is what they call a snowstorm?

Shovel, shovel, shovel!
By 3 o'clock, it was a completely different story. The snowfall increased until it became a full-on snowstorm. We decided to leave early, which was a really good idea. The drive to the outlet took about two hours, while the trip back took double the time. It snowed all night, and today, the snow was up to our knees! While it was plenty of fun for my brother and cousin to play outside, my dad's in a bit of a dire situation. He needs to get back to our city, but all transportation is cancelled or delayed.

I'm inside, nice and warm. My dad's venturing outside right now in order to try to get to the Greyhound station. I really hope he makes it!

I gotta go. Promise to be back tomorrow. In the meantime, here's a challenge for fellow bloggers. Use the word potpourri in your next post. Good luck!
