Iridescence.

"... every once in a while, you find someone who's iridescent, and when you do, nothing will ever compare."

Iridescent sky
I don't think I've ever started off a post with a quote before, have I? I don't know, my memory is failing me right now. The deadline for culminating assignments is drawing closer, and the pressure is on. For some reason, I've read more books these three days than I've read in a whole month.

One of them is Flipped, by Wendelin Van Draanen. And that's where the quote is from. To be honest, I've read this book before, a long time back. It centres on the innocent discovery of first love, and I remember thinking about how it was so cheesy and overrated. I mean, honestly, love stories appal me. For as long as I remember, I've always regarded princesses as wishy-washy. Who the heck sits there all day waiting for a prince to come and rescue them? Just rescue yourself. Duh.

Callan McAullife even looks good in black and white!
So I've heard that they've recently made a movie from the book Flipped, and after watching a few trailers, I decided to read the book again, and maybe see the movie later. This time, I found it to be quite interesting. But I still find the happy ending a bit sickening. Eh. Anyhow, the quote has stuck with me, and so, at the top of this post it shall sit.

Before I venture off into a lengthy paragraph about the other wonderful books I've read, and how awesome the male lead of the Flipped movie (Callan McAullife) looks, I must inform you of the progress we've been making on the CAMP.

We're still doing pretty well, as we've finished all the code, the testing report, and the advertising poster. All that's left is generating the executable, and finishing the user manual. Sound simple? It's not. For some reason, there are aspects of our program that glitch when run on different versions of Turing, and different computers. I keep experiencing problems with buttons on my computer at school, but none at home. And Randi's computer just seems impervious to any problems. Both she and Hannah hope to figure that problem out, while I finish the manual today.

Then, all that will be left is to create a bibliography for our program, citing all the resources we used to create it. Shouldn't be hard, as we can use our program! Yay!

Okay, more book talk from a nerd. :) Soooo. I've read (last weekend): Remember Me? by Sophie Kinsella, Tiger Eyes by Judy Blume, Clockwork Angel by Cassandra Clare, and today, I finished Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins. All are great in their own way, despite being in completely different styles.

The first is a trademark Kinsella, with lots of humour and wit, a shocking twist, and many moments that will make you laugh and cry. The second is a typical Blume, with a poignant coming-of-age story that deals with a tragedy in the family. I liked that it was in first person, and gave a very real feel to the story. The third definitely exceeded my expectations. After finishing her first three books, I was certain that Clare's writing would worsen. I mean, with her three fantastic books out, how could she outdo herself?

When I checked the ratings for her new book, and saw that they weren't high, I wasn't sure if I would read the book. Since I had already waited so long for my hold at the library to come, I decided to give it a chance, anyway. I ended up liking it a lot! While I can see why her new series didn't receive as high ratings as her old ones, I like it because it feels a lot more original. Let me explain--Clare used to write Draco fanfics online, and she became so good that she eventually published her own books.

I've always felt that her series always carried a bit of that shadow, the main character having a bit of Draco in him. Her new series is fresh and funny, and the concept is intriguing as well. I will have to read the new book when it comes out.

As for the last and final paragraph I will type before I let you go, it's time for... THE HUNGER GAMES! This is a little delayed, as I've wanted to read the raved-about series forever, but haven't gotten the time to... OMGOMGOMGOMGOMG I LOVE THE HUNGER GAMES!!!!! Yep. The action, the choice between morals and survival... Amazing. I'm not sure yet who Katniss will end up with, but I'm siding with Peeta for now. :)

Well, sorry for writing so much. As an apology, I will, uh...

Show you the big nosed face!

:L)
