Hehe. The title was a little inside joke between some giftees at my old school (invented by halalcohol and Yaning over at Giftees United. They are clever ones, and I must mention them both or else WWIII may start... :)

Today, I proudly wore my Scouts uniform to school, because it is remembrance day, and it is customary of scouts, girl guides, and cadets to wear their uniforms as a sign of respect on this day. To be honest, I actually only wore it because my mother (the infamous scout leader) told my brother and I to do so. Unlike him, I didn't have enough energy to carry out a shouting match this morning, plus I'm smart enough to know that my mother would eventually win anyways (and she did, he wore the uniform to school).
I felt like an animal in a zoo, because there was a significant amount of gawking at first, but after a while, I got used to it. As a matter of fact, many people even had questions to ask about the whole scouting program, which I, of course, happily answered.
I had to stand up in 2 classes to "show the class" the uniform. It was kind of embarrasing, but on the plus side, I did learn that Mr. Arkin used to be a scout! Until he became allergic to the wool uniform...but that's another story ;)
Speaking of which, computers class today consisted of going over the integer addition program we were supposed to create (with accumulators and counters), and creating model answers for the test.
Okay, okay. You caught me. I've been avoiding the subject of the test like I avoid Twilight (ewwwwwwww!) and so no more stalling. Here we go...hold on, let me go eat my dinner first. And study geography. And tie my shoe (wait, I have no shoes on...).
Just kidding! I did alright, but not the best I could have done. The mark was pretty saddening...a mere 79-point-something that doesn't even round to 80! I hate not round numbers. :( Oh well. The reason for all the marks I lost was that I didn't properly read the questions. And so I proceeded to lose easy marks by skipping over parts of questions, and not reading instructions such as "Do not include the documentation template." That cost me precious time I could have used to double or even triple check my work.
I'm also a bit of a worry wart, and I often have issues thinking under pressure. Therefore, projects are my forte, not tests. But with more practice, I can always change the dynamics (haha, dynamics, forte, get it?)

Let me clarify; before 9th grade started, I read in the newspaper that several students in an IB school in Mississauga managed 100% averages. Ever since school started, I'd been trying to achieve that as well. With my 96% French mark, my (hopefully) 90-something music mark, my 90-something geography mark, and now my really-low-80s computers mark, it's safe to say the dream is over. Until next year, at least. Well that's that. Until tomorrow!
Grace-sadface
P.S. Our geography teacher showed us this really cool website where you can see if WWI and WWII veterans lived in your house (or close to it!). Take a look!
Thanks to you, I now spend half an hour each day writing my blog entries. Yet I think yours is still better. You really do have a bundle of time on your hands.
ReplyDeleteJust wondering, what is your english average?
(Bet it's great!)
I'm going to take some time and skim through every ICS207 blogs and see if any would match yours.
Zelin
Hohoho...You're just too kind. :)
ReplyDeleteActually, I don't spend that long writing my blog posts. Considering I have taekwondo 2-4 times a week, volunteering, church, confirmation, girl guides, and scouts, I try my best to always post.
I don't have english until next semester, and it's with Ms. Olsheski.
What courses do you have now/next semester? Have fun reading blogs! ;D
Ha, thanks for the reference.
ReplyDeleteI would never dare stand out in high school... I hate being stared at.
Ha, music at MGCI is incredibly easy. I have a 100% average. (So does half the class. See, we get a 5% bonus for joining concert band, and another 5% on select instruments (the larger ones). So my actual average would be at 109%).
And speaking of averages, has a certain child prodigy told you she has a 100% average in ART?
You're very welcome :)
ReplyDeleteWOW! Yeah, music is pretty easy. You get bonuses for joining band? How Ms. Campbell-ish. See, even if we did get bonuses, I wouldn't join the band. First of all, like all the other rather crappy clubs at VPCI (no offense), it's run by a group of disorganized students.
Did I mention that I in the only two courses I am not currently pwning the rest of the class at, I'm getting repeatedly owned by this certain annoying person who Hannah now refers to as Draco Malfoy? It's rather annoying. I hate being second place. :(
Lastly, no, she hasn't. But I can pretty much guess. :) Compared to the other people in her art class, she's probably Picasso. :)
What?! Outrageous! Blasphemous! Treason!
ReplyDeleteI [ULTRAMEGAINFINITE EMPHASIS ON THE 'I'] made up the "remember to remember on Remembrance Day" thing! You only /heard/ it from Halalcohol.
*Hmph!*
/rant over/
[btw, since this is a computer sciences blog, excuse my erratic formatting. It probably caused you some distress, with all those /'s]
And my average is going to fall. I know, because the sculpture wasn't quite at 100. He said so. But overall, my art teacher isn't really a hard marker. He marks easier than Ms. East, at least. [Ha. That rhymed. DO YOU NOT SEE MY OVERWHELMING GENIUS? OBVIOUSLY, "REMEMBER TO REMEMBER ON REMEMBRANCE DAY" WAS MY PHRASE.]
And I know what you mean about the clubs, they're really disorganized. Our band is okay, though, because it's mostly run by the music teacher, who is pretty good at music. From what I've seen. If I were taking band, which I'm not, I would get an extra 10%. So, I'm still deliberating whether to take art or music next year.
Oh, and thanks for the link. Hopefully, it'll generate some more traffic. Did you know we have views from Malaysia? Probably stumbers, but, still. MALAYSIA.
/extremely long comment over/
LIES! ALL LIES. Remember to remember on Remembrance Day was totally mine. And so was '"Screw you!" said Mr. Screw, the man screwing a screw with a screwdriver.' See, with repetition like that, how could I have not been the one to make that up?
ReplyDeleteYeah, I like concert band, though I don't see how it takes 45 minutes to set up each time. And bonuses are Campbellish? I don't remember us getting bonuses for joining...
You guys, don't fight! I'll alter it...hehe. And YES, bonuses ARE TOO Campebell-ish. My music mark went down my 5% the last term of last year, because I quit concert band. D;
ReplyDelete...WWIII, sure. Oh, that reminds me, it was such a pathetic fight, but these two TOPS kids were mockingly getting physical over the function of the nucleolus. "IT PRODUCES RIBOSOMES!!!!"
ReplyDeleteNo, Grace, it's just your very biased view of the world cropping up again.
How...nerdy. (giggles to self)
ReplyDeleteOf course, of course. Because my view is always SO biased.
