Mediocrity

Okay, so as I promised, I'm making the subject of today's post mediocrity.

My new favourite quote is from my current reading obsession, Catch-22 by Joseph Heller. It is the second paragraph on page 83, and states, "Some men are born mediocre, some men achieve mediocrity, and some men have mediocrity thrust upon them."

When I read that, I nearly fell off my chair laughing. If you don't get it, let me clarify. It is a paraphrase of Shakespeare's original quote from the play Twelfth Night, which is as following: "Some men are born great, some achieve greatness, and some have greatness thrust upon them."

Oh, Heller is so brilliant. Okay, enough of my nerdy ramblings about American Classics. What I was going to talk about today was how all my classes today seemed to be pretty mediocre. I mean, first period (Music) was free practice time, due to a supply teacher being here.

Second period (geo) was also a free period, as almost half to class was away on a science trip.  I missed lunch completely due to a volleyball tryout that was especially mediocre, as the coach didn't even look at our side of the gym, so I'm not sure to how he could have possibly found out which players had admirable qualities.

Computers class was perhaps the most productive class today, as Mr. Arkin taught an advanced lesson on repetition, and loops. However, the majority of the class was (surprise!) a free period to catch up on selection assignments.

Should I even mention anything about French class? After a quick lesson, we had... (drum roll please) free time to work on unit project 1!

Well, that was my day of mediocrity. Hopefully taekwondo class won't be free time. I really hope (crosses fingers).

Well, that's my report on today, see you guys tomorrow!
